I’ve crawled from out my cave

Yeah I’m back! the new me. All fired up and ready to go!
So where have I been for the past few months? Well – I tried a job. That didn’t last long though because I find it impossible to work for people. I was working for Sky TV selling HD TV door to door! I’m quite good at that type of thing because I’ve got the gift of the gab.
So apart from that, I’ve been hidden away in my cave (office) paying my dues, learning my trade. I have spent almost every single hour of the day learning SEO, SEM and practicing my web design skills. So much so that I am really confident that I can get out there and tout my skills to others.
I’m getting quite good at WordPress theme design now too. My latest theme was for one of my niche affiliate websites – The Maxi Dress Shop I’m really pleased with it and it’s earning me some good money.
I’ve also been working on my personality. “What’s that got to do with SEO and Affiliate Marketing” I hear you say. Well – I’ve always been quite a reserved type of person. Always the quiet one. Standing at the back and afraid to make a scene. Well things have happened in my private life recently that have made me sit up and say – “What the f@#k! – I don’t care what people think of me” I’m gonna be my own man and do my own thing. If this upsets some people, well to be honest – I couldn’t care less!! I’m hoping that this new “edge” to my personality comes across in my blog and gives it something a little bit different.
Anyways.. I’m going off on one now. suffice to say – I’m back again. Learnt some mad skills and over the rest of this blog I’m gonna share them with you.

I really like this theme, very minimalist just my sort of style! But does the lack of text on most pages cause ranking issues? I did a few searches on Google but the only one that gave you a 1st page position was “maxi dresses jigsaw”.

I think that the lack of text in general causes the site not to rank well. That’s why I slowly started to add some articles and a blog. It’s doing ok though, averaging 100+ uniques a month and earning between £150 and £200 a month. It would be a gold mine if it was on page 1. I have another site with the same theme which is on page 2 for one keyword and page 1 position 3 for another. And the keywords are just as competitive but my backlinks are much better, so maybe its the back links that are more important!

I mean 100+ uniques a day!!

That’s still a pretty good result. It shows that you don’t need to be #1 or even on page 1 to get a reasonable income. I wouldn’t have thought that if I hadn’t experienced it myself. My garden site has reached half way up page 1 with few backlinks, but my new steam irons site is nowhere – bit more competitive than I thought so it’s definitely a case of needing to build quite a lot of backlinks

Nice theme!
£200 a month is pretty good going.
I’ve got a clothes site getting 100+ uniques a day but it hardly makes a sale. Maybe it needs a new theme…
